Dr David Hughes is a Sport & Exercise Medicine Physician practising in Canberra, Australia. He is the current President of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians. Dr Hughes completed his undergraduate medical degree in Newcastle, Australia before completing post-graduate studies in the field of Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Dr Hughes has provided SEM consultancy services to elite level athletes and professional teams in Australia and the United Kingdom. He has lectured around the world on different topics related to Sport & Exercise Medicine.

Dr Hughes has a keen interest in teaching and in promoting an active lifestyle for all individuals. He is is involved in programs promoting physical activity in children in the Australian Capital Territory. Dr Hughes was Chairman of Training for the Australasian College of Sports Physicians and continues to train doctors on the ACSP training program. He also provides regular clinical attachments for doctors from the University Of North Carolina, training in sports medicine.
